Cydia is the main application for those who jailbreak, it allows the installation of applications, tweaks, or themes for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch, a store being created by its developer to allow their distribution. Well, this store, known as the Cydia Store, was closed last night by saurik, permanently, marking a new serious blow to the increasingly small jailbreak community.
Cydia Store was closed due to a problem that allowed the exploitation of Paypal accounts, used by users to make purchases from the store, to make unauthorized payments, but through unauthorized repos. The problem did not affect a large number of people, according to the creator of the Cydia Store, but he intended to close the store anyway by the end of the year, and the disclosure of this problem only hastened the implementation of the decision he had already made.
Cydia Store has been CLOSED, WARNING to Users
Cydia Store it hasn't had many sales for a while, and this problem only affects those who had a jailbreak, "unauthorized" repos, i.e. from unknown developers, and a Paypal account linked to the store. Those who had a jailbreak, and a Paypal account used in the application for purchases, should not be worried, because the problem does not affect them either, the exploitation can only be done when they are actually using the Cydia Store, not in other ways.
The issue was regarding the ability for arbitrary depiction pages to make unauthorized cydia store purchases if the user was logged into their cydia store account and chose to link their paypal info to their account. I repeat, no user data was ever at risk of being leaked.

Cydia Store it was not a store much loved by those with jailbreaks, who only wanted free packages since they exploited their phones, and this often generated heated discussions in the community. The disappearance of the Cydia Store is a new proof of the fact that the Cydia application is no longer of interest to the developer, and that the updates to make it 100% compatible with iOS 12 will not come soon, with extremely small chances of ever coming again.
