Digi Mobil. Orange, Vodafone, Telekom, have some very bad news due to the emergency ordinance approved last night by the Romanian Government, the prices for 5G licenses will be very high. According to the representatives of the Government, Digi Mobil, Orange, Vodafone, Telekom will have to pay at least 1 billion euros to license the frequencies on the basis of which they will build the 5G networks starting from 2019, much more than the 4G licenses.

Digi Mobil. If in the case of 4G licenses, somewhere around 600 million euros were paid by all four operators, well, for 5G, the cost will increase to at least 1 billion euros, an amount over 50% higher . It was initially said that Digi Mobil, Orange, Vodafone, Telekom will have to pay at least 2% of the previous year's revenues to license 5G frequencies, but in reality the amounts will have to be much higher than that.

Digi Mobile. Orange, Vodafone, Telekom, OFFICIALLY, 5G will be VERY EXPENSIVE

Digi Mobil. The decision does not come alone, because operators will have to pay other taxes, which will increase their operating costs in Romania even more, but strictly on 5G, we can expect very high prices for services. If the operators will have to pay over 1 billion euros for licenses, then I imagine that the first services offered by Digi Mobil, Orange, Vodafone, Telekom will be very expensive, and inaccessible to many of the customers.

At the same time, in the field of communications, a minimum level of approximately one billion euros was established regarding the sale of 5G licenses. The experience of other EU states was taken into account, and here we specifically refer to Italy, where these frequencies were sold for around 6,5 billion euros - a state approximately 3 times larger than Romania.

Digi Mobil. Of all the operators, only the one owned by RCS & RDS will pay the least for licenses, regardless of whether we calculate based on the turnover or the number of customers, but the rest will bear the "burden". Unfortunately, the high prices for 5G licenses will be paid by the customers, not by the operators, and this is because not only Digi Mobil, but also Orange, Vodafone, Telekom will try to cover their investments with higher prices for these services.
