Digi Mobil. Vodafone, Telekom, Orange ended the year with a serious blow given by the Romanian Government by imposing a new turnover tax, and we told you that it could lead to price increases in 2019. Digi Mobil was the first mobile operator who applied small price increases for mobile phone subscriptions just yesterday, motivating his gesture by the need to generate higher revenues to continue investing in infrastructure.

Even if RCS & RDS has already implemented the first measures following the adoption of this new tax, it is very possible that it will be cancelled, because ANCOM says that it would be contrary to European legislation. If this tax is contrary to European legislation, then it can be challenged in court, and it can be cancelled, so Digi Mobil, Orange, Telekom, Vodafone will not have to pay it, so there would be no reason to increase the prices of the services offered to customers .

I wouldn't expect prices to drop for mobile operator subscriptions, but the extra money collected can be used to improve the 4G network, and invest more seriously in the future 5G network. Digi Mobil still has very good prices compared to Orange, Vodafone, or Telekom, the latter still launching at the end of last year a new offer that makes it somewhat competitive with the one offered by RCS & RDS, and has the advantage of a much better network.

I don't want to be "Mama Omid", but I predicted the price increases imposed by RCS & RDS, and now I say that the rest of the telecom operators will wait to see if the tax can be canceled before increasing the prices as well. If this happens, then Digi Mobil will remain the only operator with a price increase for services in 2019, but even so, the offer will still be better than that of the competition.
