RCS & RDS, Orange, Vodafone, Telekom, are at the center of very bad news for customers in Romania, and this in the conditions in which they all boasted of very large investments in infrastructure in the last year. According to a new study made by OpenSignal for mobile internet speeds in many countries around the world, unfortunately Romania occupies a not very honored place, with low speeds for RCS & RDS services, or of other telecom operators.
RCS & RDS, has the lowest mobile internet speeds in Romania, with Telekom a very short distance behind them, Orange and Vodafone being at the top, and so the average download speed via mobile internet is 26.8 Mbps in the country. The best possible speed that can be reached in Romania, on average, for RCS & RDS, and the other operators, is 37.6 Mbps, anyway far behind those offered by telecommunications operators in many countries.

RCS & RDS, unlike other years in which Romania ranked better in the list of countries with faster mobile internet, now our country has fallen below the 20th place, although our operators brag about their speeds every year. If you look at the image above, you will see that the mobile internet speeds offered in Romania by RCS & RDS, or other companies, are much lower than those in many other European countries, including some where the speeds were worse.
RCS & RDS, it seems that the investments made in Romania by the operators are not really that well reflected in the OpenSignal tests, Romanians having significantly lower average speeds compared to what is advertised. Despite the fact that, thanks to RCS & RDS, we are in the top of the countries with the fastest fixed internet in the world, as far as mobile internet is concerned, the operator is pulling us back, just like Telekom, who need big investments in infrastructure.
RCS & RDS, the current problems are turning into an opportunity for 5G, and this is because future mobile networks should substantially increase internet browsing speeds.
