RCS & RDS. Orange, Telekom, Vodafone, are targeted by a very important message that was made this day, and that targets all customers in Romania, and finally we see the fruits of two months of torment for the companies. More precisely, today it was discovered that the Ministry of Finance officially confirmed that GEO 114/2018 will indeed be amended, so that RCS & RDS, and the rest of the companies, will benefit from the changes they have already discussed with the government.

The confirmation came from a letter sent from the Ministry of Finance to the S&P rating agency, where some changes were presented for the banking sector, but the same thing will also be done for the telecommunications sector, and not only. I told you last week that the representatives of RCS & RDS, plus those of the other operators, requested that the new turnover tax be reduced to 0.4%, but also that the value of the 5G licenses be changed.

RCS & RDS. Of course, the Government has not officially confirmed that it will make all these changes, but we have had confirmation that GEO 114/2018 will not remain in its current form, even if it was tacitly adopted by the Romanian Senate. It is possible that GEO 114/2018 will not be modified even by the Chamber of Deputies, but another emergency ordinance will be given with the requests of RCS & RDS, of the other telecommunications operators, of the banks, or of the companies in the energy sector.
RCS & RDS. The modification of this emergency ordinance should prevent new charges for telecommunications services in Romania, separate from those made by Digi, the other operators being able to make much larger ones. Including a reduction in the prices of 5G licenses, or other benefits that compensate for the higher price, will motivate RCS & RDS, together with the rest of the telecom companies, not to offer expensive services, or not to make the current ones more expensive.
RCS & RDS. Although it has become as clear as possible that the turnover tax is not going to remain in the current version, it is not known when exactly the changes will be made.
