Digi Mobil. Orange, Telekom, Vodafone, unfortunately, they have increasingly bad news for the customers in Romania, who seem to have no hope that things will improve in one way or another. More precisely, I told you yesterday that Telekom announced price increases for services, as it also happened with Digi Mobil, and unfortunately everything I told you in the last months about the negative effects of GEO 114/2018 is starting to come true.
Digi Mobil. Although the Romanian Government insisted that the prices of telecommunications services should not increase following the adoption of GEO 114/2018, two large operators have already done so, and there are expectations that Orange and Vodafone will do the same. The surprising announcement from Telekom comes just a few days after Prime Minister Viorica Dancila announced that GEO 114/2018 will be amended by another GEO, so Digi Mobil, and the rest of the companies, should have been optimistic.

Digi Mobil. For now, the prices of telecommunication services have increased by only a few LEI, insignificant in total, but if the situation does not change, we can expect much higher increases. It is possible that these few LEI will not be enough, in the end, to cover the taxes that Digi Mobil will have to pay, together with the other telecommunications companies, so it is very possible that the prices will increase even more until end of 2019, or in 2020.
Digi Mobil. The price change made by Telekom and RCS & RDS it is a very clear signal that the Romanian Government will not make the changes desired by the telecom sector, otherwise such a decision would not have been reached. Telekom threatened to boycott the tender for 5G, but in the end it ended up doing exactly what happened to Digi Mobil, i.e. they increased the prices, and Orange and Vodafone will probably do the same to save their profits.
Digi Mobil. These price increases will ensure that we will still have 5G networks in 2019, but we may see higher prices there than they should, precisely because of the effects of GEO 114/2018.
