Facebook. THE PROBLEM that put the Internet ON THE BALLS

Facebook had a very serious problem the other day that affected the entire Internet, not just the servers of the American company, here is what was the cause of it.

Facebook server problems

Facebook was affected the other day by the biggest operational problem in the last 10 years, the American company having multiple non-functional services around the world, including Instagram, or WhatsApp Messenger. It took almost 12 hours for things to return to normal for Facebook users, and today the company also provided the first information about what was behind these problems that the whole world saw.

Facebook claims that a change made to its servers was at the root of the problem due to which its services were completely unavailable to the billions of users around the world who use them daily. A configuration made on one of the Facebook servers generated a "cascade" of problems for the other servers used by the company, and thus no one could use its services for so many hours in the whole world.

Facebook. THE PROBLEM that put the Internet ON THE BALLS

When Facebook does not work, a good part of the Internet does not work, and this was seen in many parts of it, many users being left without the main object of activity on their phones or computers. The big surprise was the difficulty with which things were brought back to normal by the company, this being the longest period of unavailability in the last 10 years, and it shows us that nothing is perfect, but also that we can live without the social network.

Yesterday, we made a server configuration change that triggered a cascading series of issues. As a result, many people had difficulty accessing our apps and services. We have resolved the issues, and our systems have been recovering over the last few hours. We are very sorry for the inconvenience and we appreciate everyone's patience.

Facebook lost a lot of money because of these problems, it also lost a few million users, but in the end everything returned to normal, after a good few hours in which everyone was quite confused. A lot of people thought that Facebook's servers were broken, or that who knows what else is happening, but we won't find out the whole truth soon, although it's quite clear that a simple change to a server can cause a lot of problems big for companies.
