AirPower officially became a registered trademark owned by the Apple company, the Americans being very close to losing the name to another company. Although it presented AirPower more than a year ago, the Apple company did not register the name as a trademark, another company did so, and Apple had to buy it from them.
Apple tried to register the AirPower name as a trademark in the summer of 2018, but discovered that another company had already applied for the registration, which was approved in December 2018. Although it tried to convince the US authorities that the trademark would be too similar to that of some own products, he failed to do so, so he decided to buy the AirPower brand from the company that registered it.
The decision of those from Apple to actually buy the AirPower brand without fighting to obtain the right to it for free and legally suggests the fact that the launch is very close. It is possible that the postponement of the AirPower launch was also based on the fact that the brand did not belong to the company, and it seems that it lost some money by its stubbornness in not registering it on time.
