Digi Mobil. Orange, Vodafone, Telekom, they have very bad news at the moment, and this despite all the assurances that things will return to normal in the next period. More precisely, although the Government promised that GEO 114/2018 would be amended in order to correct the problems that Digi Mobil, and the rest of the telecom operators, complained about in recent months, for now this has not happened in the official documents .
Digi Mobil. Yesterday, a first draft of the emergency ordinance appeared, which aims to amend the one from the end of last year, and in it there is absolutely no amendment aimed at the telecommunications sector. Although multiple officials from the Government of Romania, or from other state institutions, promised that Digi Mobil, plus the rest of the telecom environment, would have the changes they requested, unfortunately this is not happening yet.

Digi Mobil. Apart from the new turnover tax, and the very high prices for 5G licenses, the operators also demand the elimination of the special fine that was introduced by GEO 114/2018. This special fine is a very important point for the telecom environment, some operators, apart from Digi Mobil, have announced that they will appeal it to the Constitutional Court if it is implemented, which complicates things even more in Romania.
Digi Mobil. In Romania, the taxes imposed by the Government would represent a higher percentage of the operators' income compared to what happens in other countries in Europe, and the operators are also upset about this. Digi Mobil has already increased the prices for services, Telekom has announced a similar change, and Vodafone and Orange are not acting for now, but Telekom has also threatened to boycott the auction for 5G frequencies if GEO 114/2018 is not corrected.
Digi Mobil. At the moment, the telecom situation in Romania is uncertain, and this also affects the future 5G networks, for which the investments are not yet started with the same enthusiasm.
