Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), has again reduced the prices of iPhone, iPad, Mac, AirPods for its customers, just a few weeks after making a series of discounts for the same types of products. A few weeks ago, Apple reduced the prices of iPhone, iPad, AirPods, Mac in China, and now the American company has applied a new series of discounts through a change in the way of setting prices.

Apple has reduced the price of iPhone XR, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max by 5%, with much more modest discounts of about 80 dollars, but for China it matters. In the case of AirPods, the discounts are even lower, of only a few dollars, while in the case of iPad Pro tablets, the prices have dropped by only a few tens of dollars starting today.

The price reduction is based on a reduction in the applicable VAT for China, plus an additional discount applied by the Apple company to further stimulate sales. This year was the first in which Apple substantially reduced its prices for products in China, and this is due to the decrease in sales in the country, which also affects other manufacturers.

For example, the Apple Store price for the iPhone XR has fallen from 6499 RMB to 6199 RMB, or about 4.5%. This is slightly more than the 3% drop in the sales tax, but it is not unusual for Apple to round to a more aesthetically pleasing price, like ending in '99'. This would explain why the observed price changes are sometimes a little larger than just 3%.
