Google Pay. When will it be launched in Romania? A very good question that many people who have Android phones ask themselves, but one that until now has not had such a clear answer. I told you last week when Apple Pay is launched in Romania, the banks ING, Banca Transilvania, and Orange Money announcing the offering of the service from Apple, but none of them said publicly when Google Pay will be launched in Romania for customers.
When Google Pay is launched in Romania we won't find out too soon, unfortunately, and that's because the banks haven't yet received Google's consent to publicly announce this. Google Pay was supposed to be launched in Romania this very year, the banks having made all the preparations to activate the Google phone payment system, but unfortunately the Americans decided to postpone the launch of Google Pay in Romania by at least a year.
Google Pay. when it is launched in Romania it's not 100% sure, but it won't appear until 2020, and that's because the Americans have revised their strategy for expanding the phone payment service, and Romania is no longer part of it. Google Pay, when it is launched in Romania, is not yet known even by the banks, which are left with the preparations made for the launch, but they no longer have anything to offer their customers because they do not have the cooperation of those from Google.

When Google Pay is launched in Romania, the system will be available with full utility only for phones with the Android operating system, and this is because the iPhone will not be able to access the NFC chip in the phones. Google Pay, when it is launched in Romania, will allow payments with the phone at the POS only on Android, but on the iPhone it can be used to make online payments, or payments in applications through in-app purchases, so it will not be completely useless to customers.
When Google Pay is launched in Romania, should be available for more banks than in the case of Apple Pay, and this is because the Android operating system is more versatile, and Google is more willing to expand. It is not yet known which of the banks in the country have prepared for Google Pay, when it is launched in Romania, but when everything will be officially announced by Google, the banks should also intensively promote what they will offer
Google Pay. When it is launched in Romania, should be available for all mobile phone models that have at least Android 4.2, this being the minimum requirement for ING Pay, and I imagine that with this phone payment system things will not be different. When Google Pay is launched in Romania, the base of users who will be able to pay with their phone at POS will be expanded, and as our country has an 80% penetration of contactless POS, it is suitable for such services.
