Otopeni Airport, International Henri Coanda Bucharest, is to have a facial recognition system integrated for passengers who will transit the area to board planes, a possible first for Romania. A public auction was organized for the Otopeni airport to have a modernized video surveillance system, the ones from UTI won it, and in the following years the changes necessary for its implementation will be made.
Otopeni Airport will have implemented a system that will recognize the license plates of the cars that will arrive in its area, but separately from that will be integrated the software that will allow the facial recognition of the visitors. Although several companies signed up for the tender to upgrade the monitoring system at Otopeni airport, including Telekom, those from UTI won the tender in the end, and will also provide here the software that will allow including facial recognition of visitors.

Otopeni Airport will have the new surveillance system implemented over a fairly long period of time, the contract worth 7.7 million euros, without VAT, and will have a 4-year deployment period, i.e. until 2023.
