EE and Vodafone in Great Britain have announced that they are suspending the launch of Huawei Mate 20 X 5G phones along with 5G networks in the country, motivating their decision based on the sanctions imposed by the USA this week.
The Huawei Mate 20 X 5G was supposed to be one of the phones EE and Vodafone customers could buy to use UK 5G networks, but other models will be offered to consumers instead. EE and Vodafone said that the phones have not yet been certified for sale in the US, but that until they have information that gives them confidence in Huawei products, they have decided to postpone the launch of the devices.

EE has told customers that it will sell Huawei products only when it ensures that they can be used for long periods of time, which is now impossible due to the suspension of the Android license. Huawei can no longer offer its customers the certainty that they will benefit from updates for Android beyond the moment they buy them, and this is because now Google is obliged not to allow them to do this, separately from security updates. Mobile phone operators and stores in various countries around the world will start talking to Huawei about this issue, and probably many will also decide to suspend the sale of some products.
Huawei has not yet fully felt the huge blow given by the US, or maybe for now we don't see the impact because not all of its partner companies have publicly revealed their intentions vis-à-vis the Chinese.
