Telekom, Orange, Vodafone I am at the center of an incredible piece of news that came today directly from the Romanian Parliament, where something that seemed absolutely impossible just a few months ago happened. More precisely, the law for the adoption of GEO 114/2018 was rejected by the IT committee of the Chamber of Deputies, which represents an important victory for RCS & RDS, the rest of the telecom companies, and not only, after months of fighting to cancel its effects.
RCS & RDS. The IT Commission of the Chamber of Deputies will give a negative opinion for the law regarding the transformation of GEO 114/2018 into law, and as this chamber is the decision-making one, the news could be quite good, in the end. A vote in the Chamber of Deputies is needed for a final decision to be made, but there are very high chances that RCS & RDS, and the other telecom companies, will be able to breathe a sigh of relief, because it seems that everything is heading towards a rejection of the GEO 114/2018.

RCS & RDS. Without being approved by the Parliament, GEO 114/2018 will not be able to produce its effects in the future, because any emergency ordinance must also be approved by the Parliament before becoming law and producing its effects permanently. Considering the victory in the European Parliament for USR and PNL, those from PSD will probably no longer insist on GEO 114/2018, and RCS & RDS, and the other telecom groups, will be able to look to the future with more confidence.
Today in the IT Commission of the Chamber of Deputies we achieved a victory that we believe will be confirmed in the Plenary of the Chamber regarding GEO 114. We managed to convince the Minorities plus the UDMR to vote with us to reject GEO 114, and the PSD representative abstained , which was a good sign. At the moment, OUG 114, in our opinion, will disappear from the firmament of Romanian politics and all the harm done by it will be repaired with the help of the PNL and those from the Opposition.
RCS & RDS. All the companies that until now fought to get rid of the provisions of this emergency ordinance have the chance to create a logical 5G strategy, based on normal prices for licenses for frequencies. Moreover, that turnover tax will no longer be imposed for RCS & RDS, and the rest of the telecom environment, so theoretically all those price increases no longer make sense in this context.
RCS & RDS. Considering that GEO 114/2018 is about to disappear, it will be interesting to see how the customers who were forced to accept price increases for services that will no longer be charged additionally will be treated.
