RCS & RDS. Orange, Telekom, Vodafone, they have a huge news for 5G in Romania at the moment, the telecommunications operators entering the right line for the networks to be launched in our country. The other days ANCOM announced that they have officially established the calendar for obtaining licenses for 5G networks in Romania, and RCS & RDS, and the rest of the companies, must now prepare their strategy to offer these services in our country .
RCS & RDS. Until October 31, 2019, the main frequencies that will be used for the 5G networks that will be launched in Romania will be auctioned, so there are only a few months of preparation left. For now, RCS & RDS, and the rest of the telecom environment, must pay together 1 billion euros for all the frequencies that will be auctioned for the future networks, contesting the figure imposed by GEO 114/2019.

RCS & RDS. Even if the operators will buy the licenses until the end of October 2019, the right to use them will only be granted until the end of 2019, so until then we still have a lot to wait. It is very possible that in the meantime RCS & RDS, or other operators, will publicly present the 5G networks they will launch in our country, but also allow their testing until they can be launched publicly.
By the end of August 2019, the Authority will develop and finalize, following public consultation with the industry, the documentation necessary for the effective organization of the selection procedure for granting the rights to use the radio spectrum available in the frequency bands of 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 1500 MHz, 2600 MHz and 3400-3800 MHz, and it will take place until October 31, 2019.
RCS & RDS. For now, only those from Vodafone have a public network that anyone can test in Bucharest if they have the right phone and subscription, but other operators have not yet revealed plans of this kind. However, I expect that either RCS & RDS, or other companies, will announce in the coming months the plans to launch 5G networks in our country that will be available first for testing, and only then for use.
RCS & RDS. The wait for 5G is almost over, but it remains to be seen how much access to services will cost, because as things stand, we will have to pay something to use the technology.
