Romanian authorities warning

Today, the Romanian authorities issue a very important warning to all citizens of our country, and it is imperative that you know what is being announced because you may be targeted. More precisely, those from CERT-RO made an important warning regarding ransomware attacks, which have increased in intensity in Romania recently.

According to the authorities from CERT-RO, it seems that medical institutions are starting to be targeted by hackers with these ransomware attacks, and this is very dangerous. Ransomware attacks encrypt and block computers and the data in them, the hackers asking for money in exchange for decrypting and unlocking them, the sums being usually large.

The authorities also make a series of recommendations that Romanians must follow in order not to be victims of hackers and have their data blocked by them. Below is a list that should be followed very strictly because it can help you better protect yourself against ransomware attacks:

  • "do not open the files received by e-mail unless you know the sender and in case of suspicion contact the specialized staff
  • avoid accessing irresistible "offers" from the online environment, regardless of the form in which you receive them (email, whatsapp, messenger, facebook, etc.)
  • make sure you have a backup of your files on a device that is not connected to the network
  • make sure the devices you use when surfing online are up-to-date and have security solutions installed (firewall, antivirus, antimalware, etc.)
  • call the single number 1911 for reporting these incidents
  • access the guides available on the CERT-RO website"
