Yesterday RCS & RDS has officially announced that it is testing 5G in Bucharest, being the second major operator to make an announcement in 2019 regarding the preparation of the launch of a 5G network in Romania, Digi Mobil going to offer the services for customers in the country.
Digi Mobil. Ericsson is the company whose equipment is used by the operator to do the tests in Bucharest at the moment, and next week we will see what the customers will receive when the 5G network is launched. Expectations are very high, and not only because Digi Mobil has behind it a group with the best fixed internet in the country, but also because it is known that services of this kind are expensive, and we expect something cheap from them.

Digi Mobil. Theoretically, the network prepared by the operator should offer speeds of at least 1 Gbps for customers who decide to use it, but of course everything depends on the equipment used. The people from RCS & RDS did a demonstration at one point that showed that they can reach speeds of up to 10 Gbps through their equipment, but Digi Mobil will not offer something like that, as no other operator in Romania will. still do

I expect that we will have very cheap services from this operator, and with moderate prices from the others, and this is because the investment in the 5G infrastructure will not be a cheap one for the operators. In this idea, they will have to recover their investments from somewhere, and if Digi Mobil will be more moderate with prices, I expect Orange, Vodafone, Telekom to have a more aggressive policy, with much more expensive services for us.
Digi Mobil. The launch of 5G networks, regardless of the operator, will not happen at the national level until the end of the year, when the rights to use the frequencies they will license will be granted.
