Telecom. Deutsche Telekom has already put the company up for SALE

Telecom. The Germans from Deutsche Telekom have already put the Romanian company up for sale, after increasing the share capital to clear it of debts.

Telekom for sale

Telekom. The rumors of a few weeks ago that said that the Romanian telecommunications group would be put up for sale are starting to come true, and Deutsche Telekom has taken the first step in this regard. The OTE Group, which owns the majority of Telekom Romania's shares, and which is owned by Deutsche Telekom, increased the company's capital by 800 million euros, issuing 371.871.998 new shares, and erasing its debts.

Telekom. The move made by Deutsche Telekom clears Telekom Romania Mobile Communications of its debts to OTE, and took out for sale the package of shares he has in the country. Although Telekom Romania Communications, formerly Romtelecom, has not undergone any change, there the state has 45% of the shares, the sale of the rest of the share package that Deutsche Telekom has will be done sometime this year, according to the Germans' plan.

Telecom. Deutsche Telekom has already put the company up for SALE

Telekom. It seems that Deutsche Telekom wants to get rid of all the shares it owns in the Romanian company as soon as possible, even before the auction for 5G starts in the country, so as not to be forced to make investments. The CEO of Telekom threatened a few months ago that if GEO 114/2018 is not amended, the company will not participate in the 5G auction, and it seems that Deutsche Telekom wants to leave Romania altogether because of the problems here.

Telekom. Of course, the company's problems did not come only from the Government, it constantly losing customers, and failing to solve the major problems that Cosmote left with the mobile telephony infrastructure. Despite the investments made, Telekom remains with a very weak network, succeeding only to surpass Digi Mobil, which also has a much smaller coverage, but inferior services from all points of view, which does not seem to change soon.

Telekom. If the Deutsche Telekom group leaves Romania, it is difficult to say who could take its place because there are not many equally strong groups in Europe that would invest in our country.
