Google Translate. Support for 100 languages and Instant Camera in Romanian!

Google Translate, the Google service that can translate almost any text, now has support for over 200 international languages. Moreover, Instant Camera has also been improved by the American company, and above you can see a demonstration of its operation.

Google Translate now has support in Instant Camera for over 80 languages from around the world, compared to 38 languages in the past, including Romanian. More details about this update for Google Translate you have below, and of course everything is offered in the latest version of the application for iOS and Android.

An intuitive and simple way to understand a foreign language when traveling is to use your phone's camera to translate what you see – from signs and announcements to menus or product labels. For these situations, Google Translate provides the functionality "Instant Camera Translation" (instant translation using the phone's camera): point the phone's camera at the desired text and instantly receive the translation on the screen instead of the original text.

Google announces a new version of this functionality, which brings many improvements. First, Instant Camera Translation works for more than 80 languages, up from 38 so far, including Romanian. Moreover, now the translation works with any pair of languages chosen from the supported ones – for example from Bulgarian and Romanian (until now it only worked with the English language pair). Instant Camera Translation works online or offline, but also with the "auto detect" option - you don't need to specify which language to translate from.

The translation quality of Instant Camera Translation is better: when the phone is connected, this functionality uses the "neural machine translation (NMT)" technology on Google servers to provide the best results. When the phone is not connected to the Internet, it uses the NMT technology on the device to provide quality translation.
