RCS & RDS. Vodafone, Orange, Telekom, Phones Compatible with Advanced Mobile Location

RCS & RDS. Vodafone, Orange, Telekom will be able to use these phones to send information via Advanced Mobile Location to the 112 service.

RCS & RDS aml phones

RCS & RDS. Vodafone, Orange, Telekom, will soon be used by customers to send information to the 112 emergency service through Advanced Mobile Location, and some want to know if their phones are compatible. The new Advanced Mobile Location technology will not be implemented by RCS & RDS, and the other telecom companies, but by the Romanian authorities, and compatibility for phones is ensured by the manufacturers.

RCS & RDS. Mobile operators and authorities are only senders and receivers of SMS messages that contain the information provided by Advanced Mobile Location, but the phones must have the integrated technology. According to European authorities, at the moment, all Android phones that have the latest updates released from July 2016 until now are compatible with AML technology, so RCS & RDS customers, and not only, must have them.

RCS & RDS. In the case of the iPhone, you need the latest updates released after the spring of 2018 and until now, AML working without problems with all devices that have the latest updates. RCS & RDS, and the other operators, do not recommend people to update their phone software very often, but if you want to be protected by this new technology that will be used by 112, you must do so.

RCS & RDS. Advanced Mobile Location sends an SMS to the emergency services with the location of the person who calls them and asks for help, and so the authorities can be directed to the exact location where they need to intervene. As I said, RCS & RDS, and the other operators, only have to possibly prioritize the SMS that are sent via AML to 112, which shouldn't be very difficult to do, but there's not much else they can do .

RCS & RDS. That being said, any Android phones updated after July 2016, or iPhones updated after April 2018, can be used without issues with Advanced Mobile Location technology.
