Samsung also announced that the new image sensor has a size of 1/1.33 inch, being the first of its kind, and should take excellent pictures in low light conditions. Samsung also boasts that this image sensor can record photos and videos that reproduce extremely faithfully the colors of the world around us, but also their details, so normally it should be superior to any existing sensors at the moment for mobile phones.

“Samsung continuously strives for innovation in pixel technologies and logic to design our ISOCELL image sensors to capture the world as close as possible to the way our eyes perceive it. Through close collaboration with Xiaomi, ISOCELL Bright HMX is the first mobile image sensor to pack over 100 million pixels and deliver unmatched color reproduction and stunning detail with advanced Tetracell and ISOCELL Plus technology.”

Samsung has also implemented in this image sensor a technology called Smart-ISO, which reduces the ISO of images in strong light to improve pixel saturation and make more vibrant photos. The image sensor can also record video clips in 6K format at 30 FPS, which would be a new first for premium mobile phones from well-known manufacturers, but it is hard to say if the function will be launched.

Samsung develops very good image sensors, and many manufacturers use their cameras, but not all of them implement them as well as the Koreans in their own products.
