STS. Less than a month after the Caracal scandal, the Special Telecommunications Service decided that it needed accessories worth 1.7 million LEI, so it launched a dedicated auction. More precisely, those from STS want to buy supports for tablets worth 1.7 million LEI, and we are talking here about a total number of up to 17.000 such accessories, depending on the offers it will receive from the interested companies .

STS. Six contracts would bring these accessories to the institution by 2021, the first of them this very year, three during 2020, and two more during 2021. Each contract will have offers for at least 200 tablet holders, and a maximum of 3000, in order to collect the 17.000 that STS needs, but he did not say very clearly what he would like to use them for after the purchase.

STS. The institution mentions that these supports would allow the use of some tablets in an ergonomic position for the "operator", but it is not known exactly which people it would be. Whether we are talking about the operators from the 112 emergency service, or about those who use these tablets in the case of the voting process, it being known that STS had special tablets for scanning voters' ballots during the European parliamentary elections.

"Supports for tablets will be purchased, necessary to fulfill the duties of the Special Telecommunications Service. The minimum and maximum quantities of tablet holders estimated to be purchased are a minimum of 1.000 pcs - a maximum of 17.000 pcs. The support will ensure the firm fixation of the equipment in an ergonomic position for the operator. The position of the tablet must be firm on the support, with no adjustments / adjustments of any kind required during use by the operator, ensuring at the same time an optimal operating position, not demanding from a physical point of view and ensuring maximum visibility of the equipment.

STS. Just a few weeks ago, the institution launched a separate contract for the purchase of several thousand very cheap mobile phones, and this one for accessories also falls into the category of curious ones. STS needs state-of-the-art equipment, but following the Caracal scandal, the Romanians were expecting investments for the implementation of AML, for example, or the modernization of 112, but for now we have these separate contracts.
