Digi Mobil. Orange, Vodafone, Telekom, the clients in Romania are targeted by a very important announcement from the government, and everything will happen very soon, and this is because there is a great need for an important change. More precisely, in the substantiation note for the GEO that will bring AML to Romania for Digi Mobil's customers and those of other operators, reference is also made to the implementation of another equally important technology, Google's ELS.

ELS is the implementation made by Google in Android for AML technology, and it also represents a collaboration between the company and mobile operators, so Digi Mobil, and the others, could also cooperate.

Digi Mobil. At the moment, all Android phones running at least version 4.0 have implemented ELS technology, so very many Romanians will be able to enjoy the more accurate location from 112. In the case of the iPhone, only those with iOS 11.3.x, or a newer version new, they can enjoy more accurate localization through AML, but Digi Mobil, and the rest of the companies, in Romania mainly have customers with Android phones, so also ELS.
"Providing a search area, sometimes with a radius of more than 35 km, cannot be good enough for the intervention teams, even if these estimated radius sizes are characteristic of sparsely populated areas. Even the smaller rays are not, again, often useful in the areas where they appear, namely in densely populated spaces, for easy to understand reasons. Considering the above-mentioned shortcomings of the currently implemented localization system, we consider it imperative that, in addition to the "cell-ID localization method", emergency dispatchers can benefit, at least in cases where the technology allows it, from localizations as close as possible to the real position of the people who request help through emergency calls to 112. In this sense, in accordance with the technological evolution, it is necessary to urgently implement, in addition to the existing solution, the current Google localization technology (ELS - Emergency Location Service) which is based on the functionality of AML - Advanced Mobile Location (AML/ELS)."
Digi Mobil. Normally, after the implementation of this more accurate localization system, everything should work automatically, that is, all Romanians should be located immediately after initiating the call. There should be no need to activate any service for more accurate location, so that all those who call 112 from Digi Mobil, or other operators, should already be sure that they can be located more easily.
Digi Mobil. Considering that ELS is based on AML, the exact location is picked up by the phone's GPS and sent automatically to the number 114 via SMS, so no internet connection is necessarily needed.
