Huawei go ahead with the plans to do Harmony OS its main operating system for customers around the world, and is already preparing the launch of a product that will run it instead of Android. We are talking about the Huawei Watch GT 2, a new smartwatch from the Huawei company, this one running Harmony OS instead of Android Wear, and being the beginning of a substantial change for what the Chinese products offer to all customers.
Huawei would launch the Watch GT 2 during this month, most likely during the event where it will reveal the Huawei MATE 30 PRO to the whole world, so its launch is not that far away. For now, we only have a series of press images with the new smartwatch that Huawei wants to launch, they reveal quite a bit about what Harmony OS is going to bring for the customers who will use it.
Huawei: This is the FIRST product Launched with the new Harmony OS
Huawei will not make substantial changes to the components of the Watch GT 2, going to include a 445 mAh battery, slightly larger than the 420 mAh used in the current version of the smartwatch. Huawei would still like to include a microphone and speaker in a new smartwatch to allow making phone calls, and that should also bring a 4G version, which will probably have an integrated eSIM.
Huawei wants to launch the new smartwatch with Harmony OS, but the interface it will have is very similar to the one Android Wear models have for users. This means that Huawei does not want to differentiate the products too much at the interface level, and it can certainly copy Android Wear without problems, so it remains to be seen what exactly it will end up offering in the end for those willing to buy this watch.
