Orange FORCES Customers to Upgrade to MORE EXPENSIVE Subscriptions with the THREAT of Termination

Orange forces some customers, under the threat of contract termination, to give up their current subscriptions in order to make the transition to more expensive ones.

orange customers expensive subscriptions termination

Orange started an unexpected campaign in Romania, forcing certain customers with certain subscriptions to switch to more expensive ones, otherwise they will have their current subscriptions unilaterally terminated. This campaign targets customers who have subscriptions worth 5 euros per month, they are obliged to switch to subscriptions that cost 7 euros per month, starting on November 1, 2019, and if they refuse, they will have their contracts unilaterally terminated.

Orange surprises with this strategy, the operator has so far avoided forcing a larger mass of customers to switch to more expensive subscriptions for fear of terminating the current ones, but this is also happening. Those who will be forced by Orange to switch to the 7 euro subscriptions, including VAT, will have a price increase of one euro, but they will also have very good benefits, so it is unlikely that many people will cry

"Hello! Starting from 01.11.2019 you will benefit from the new Orange Me Start 7 package with unlimited minutes and SMS in the network, unlimited minutes and national SMS, 100 international minutes and 50 GB net for only 7 EUR/month (including VAT). If you do not agree with this change, you can request in stores or at Customer Service, within 30 days of receiving this SMS, the unilateral termination of the contract for this number, without penalties. If we do not receive any response within this period, we will consider that you have accepted the new offer."

Orange FORCES Customers to Upgrade to MORE EXPENSIVE Subscriptions with the THREAT of Termination

Orange obliges customers with subscriptions of 5 euros per month to switch to the Orange Me Start 7 subscription, for which it offers unlimited minutes and SMS on the network, 100 international minutes, and 50 GB of internet. I don't know who could be upset by such an offer, and that's because the Internet is offered in extremely large quantities by Orange, and the rest in the country is unlimited, so there probably won't be too many problems from customers.

"The signaled message is part of a timely repositioning campaign, addressed to customers with mobile service packages that are no longer part of the current commercial offer. The new subscriptions offered to Orange customers targeted by this campaign offer superior benefits, which better respond to current communication needs. Since it is a commercial campaign addressed only to certain categories of customers, it is not found on the orange.ro website, the targeted customers being informed punctually through other communication methods."

Orange is still making a forced move here, so it is possible that some people will complain to ANPC that they are threatened by the company with the termination of an existing contract if they do not sign a new one. Those from Vodafone are going through something similar, and were fined by ANPC, after which they challenged the decision in court, but the process is not over yet, so Orange could go through something similar in the coming weeks.

Orange is the largest mobile operator in Romania, with over 10 million customers, and in the spring it increased prices due to GEO 114/2018, masking the move with a new subscription offer.
