BIG problems of DIGI MOBIL in BUYING Telekom Romania

Digi Mobil has very big problems in buying the mobile division of Telekom Romania, the negotiations being extremely complicated by the involvement of the Romanian state.

DIGI MOBIL problems telecom Romania

Digi Mobil is one of the companies that wants to buy a part of Telekom Romania at the moment, its parent company, RCS & RDS, is already in advanced discussions to buy a part of the mobile division. Digi Mobil would have bought all the mobile infrastructure of those from Telekom, together with the radio licenses for it, but the customers would not switch to the mobile phone operator, which complicates the negotiations now.

Digi Mobil still has another, more complicated problem, and this is because the mobile division from which it wants to buy so many is owned 30% by Telekom Romania Communications, the fixed division. This fixed division of Telekom Romania is owned by the Greek group OTE, owned by the Germans, but also by the Romanian state, each with a separate package of shares, and Digi Mobil should negotiate with each separately at this moment.

Digi Mobil will also have to negotiate with Orange, if the sale of the landline division is approved by the Romanian state before RCS & RDS can buy the landline division from Telekom. This greatly complicates things for Digi Mobil, because the negotiations have to be carried out with three separate entities, one of which does not have any decision-making power for now, but could own either all or part of the shares in the near future.

Digi Mobil can benefit greatly from the acquisition of the mobile division of Telekom, but since it is a shareholder not only the German group, but also the Romanian state, and soon Orange, the situation is a bit delicate. Although RCS & RDS was declared a difficult negotiation partner, probably at this moment the negotiations are a bit premature, and this is because Digi Mobil has to hold discussions with too many companies at the moment.

Digi Mobil will most likely have a part in the acquisition that is rumored now, but a lot of complicated negotiations will have to be carried out until that moment.
