Vodafone: The Big SECRET of the New 5G Network that will DISAPPOINT you

Vodafone has a secret regarding the 5G network in Romania, and all customers interested in using it must know what they will receive.

Vodafone secret 5G

Vodafone boasts that it is the first mobile phone operator in Romania to launch a 5G network in our country, and this is perfectly true, they also demonstrated its performance in the launch event. Then Vodafone demonstrated that their network can offer data transfer speeds of up to 1 Gbps on compatible phones, which is in line with the results we saw in tests done in other countries.

However, Vodafone has different specifications for the speed that can be obtained by customers who choose to buy one of the special subscriptions that allow connecting to the 5G network and surfing the Internet. Those from Vodafone claim that the maximum speed that customers can obtain within the 5G network is 500 Mbps for download and 50 Mbps for upload, i.e. half of what they demonstrated when the network was launched in our country.

Vodafone currently has worse coverage than those from Digi Mobil in terms of the 5G network, but the speed obtained on a phone tested in the RCS & RDS network was 300 Mbps lower. Although Vodafone says what is the speed that customers who use its 5G network can expect, Digi Mobil does not specify this anywhere, but it is hard for me to believe that it will be anything close to the speed that I saw in the test by them.

"Subscriptions offer unlimited national mobile internet that allows access to 5G technology. The maximum speed estimated and promoted for 5G technology is up to 500 Mbps download and 50 Mbps upload. Speeds depend on the technical parameters of the network and the specifications of the device used and cannot be guaranteed.”

Vodafone basically says that the speed customers will have in the 5G network is halved compared to what they demonstrated at launch, but even so, it is double the speed stated for 4G. Vodafone, like Digi Mobil, launched the 5G network using the frequencies it licensed for 4G, and this is where part of the problem comes from, because the new spectrum for 5G will also offer better bandwidth.

Vodafone has very good 4G internet speeds, fighting on an equal footing with Orange, but on the 5G side, for now, customers do not benefit from the speeds they have seen with other operators from abroad.
