Telekom is preparing for the sale of the fixed services division to those from orange, this being extremely certain, and this because including the Romanian Government was announced in connection with the transaction that is about to take place. In the meantime, those from Telekom continue their restructuring process started some time ago, one that has already led to the dismissal of several hundred employees in Romania, and there have been rumors that others will be fired.
However, Telekom announced that its decision is not to restructure more employees than it had initially stated, at least for now, so that all those who knew their jobs were safe, have nothing to fear. At the moment, Telekom has no plans to lay off any more people, although there were rumors that suggested this, scaring a lot of people, but it seems that the plans are completely different, at least in terms of the company's evolution in Romania.
MAJOR decision of Telekom Before the SALE to Orange
Telekom was at the center of these rumors after it was said that a layoff of several employees would have been requested as part of the negotiations it has with Orange and RCS & RDS for the sale of its divisions. Of course, no one publicly confirmed any such request, and although it is possible that it was made, officially those from Telekom say that they do not plan to lay off any more people, and it is possible that the divisions will be sold very quickly .
Telekom does not want to fire other people, but after the sale of the divisions anything is possible, so the unions will have to talk with Orange about what will happen next with the employees. I don't think that Orange will want to fire anyone, just as Telekom has no plans to do that either, so it's unlikely that things will change in any way for the worse for the thousands of people who work at the operator.
Telekom is currently discussing with the Romanian state to ship the sale of its landline division, but no one knows very clearly when this whole process could be completed.
