Digi Mobil, Orange, Vodafone, Telekom have all the customers targeted by a completely unexpected announcement from the ANCOM authorities, the president Sorin Grindeanu stating that there are chances that the launch will be postponed. During a conference organized today by ANCOM, the president of the institution that regulates the activity of Digi Mobil, and not only, stated that next week he will tell us if the auction for 5G frequencies is postponed to 2020.
Digi Mobil already has an active 5G network, just like Vodafone, but both operate based on licensed frequencies for 4G, and ANCOM makes it clear that the auction for those dedicated to 5G could be postponed. It seems that for now no clear decision has been made, and the government's situation is not one that brings much hope regarding the possibility that Digi Mobil, and not only that, will be able to buy licenses for 5G frequencies in 2019.

"Next week we will tell you if we do it by the end of the year. If we will hold the 5G auction this year or next, you will know the answer next week. The current domestic political situation is not helping the 5G bid either. Until any technology is reached, whether we are talking about 5G, 4G or 3G, all things are tested, they are standardized. There are 'OKs' from competent institutions that can say 'yes' or 'no' to the implementation of certain technologies."
