RCS & RDS took during this year a decision that turns out to be extremely good for all clients in Romania, even if at the time of its announcement there were many skeptics regarding its usefulness. More precisely, those from RCS & RDS made the decision to launch a 5G network in 2019 despite the fact that they did not have licenses for the frequencies that will be offered by the Romanian state for networks based on this new telecommunications technology.
RCS & RDS launched its 5G network using the old frequencies it already had for 4G, refusing to wait for the Romanian authorities to organize the auction for the new frequencies, and the decision was an extremely good one. The other days the ANCOM announced that it is possible that the auction for the frequencies of the 5G networks will be postponed due to the political problems in our country, and things seem to be moving towards this end.
RCS & RDS and very GOOD DECISION made for Romanian Customers
RCS & RDS did not wait for the authorities to organize themselves to establish the procedures for the auction of 5G frequencies, or the launch of the networks, and it did very well, because the current situation is very bad. The new Romanian Government has as high a chance of being voted in as our highways have a chance of being completed, so the decision of those from RCS & RDS to make their 5G network in advance can give them a serious advantage over their competitors.
RCS & RDS was not the only operator that did this, those from Vodafone made a similar decision, and now these companies are the only ones that can offer customers the 5G experience, even if on a limited number of phones. Their decisions turn out to be very good in the context in which 5G networks have less and less chances to be launched right from the beginning of 2020, when operators will be able to use the licenses, and RCS & RDS remain in advance.
RCS & RDS has an even more extensive network than Vodafone's, and continues to expand it, although it is not actually known how many people currently use the operator's 5G network.
