WhatsApp is without question the biggest messaging platform on the planet, and over the weekend we told you that it can be replaced from the phones of people all over the world by a new technology. We are talking about the RCS technology that Google wants to turn into a standard for all Android phones, but only with the help of telecommunications operators, and WhatsApp could also be replaced by Romanians.
WhatsApp could be replaced on Orange customers' phones by users, who can use the RCS technology in this network, which was launched by the operator about 2 years ago. Orange is currently the only mobile phone operator in Romania that has implemented RCS communication technology, and those with Android phones can forget about WhatsApp and use this communication technology.
WhatsApp will also be able to be REPLACED from Romanian Phones
WhatsApp can be installed from the Google Play Store by interested parties, but only Android 10 users can use RCS, and for now only with a trick that forces the activation of this communication system in phones. Even if at the moment not all Romanians can replace WhatsApp with the RCS communication system, which is much safer, and is natively implemented in Android 10, this will change in the coming months, as the updates keep coming.
WhatsApp's global supremacy is threatened by this communication system that wants to be an iMessage for Android, that is, a system pre-installed in phones, which can be used by anyone, anywhere, anytime. WhatsApp has more Android users than iOS precisely because iMessage is offered natively in iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch or Mac, and when RCS reaches hundreds of millions of Android phones, Facebook will have a very big problem.
WhatsApp will not disappear very soon, but if RCS will be adopted very quickly by mobile phone operators, then people will start to give up the messaging platform as well.
