Digi Mobil announced more than a week ago that in Romania it will also have a 2G mobile network to replace the 3G, 4G, 5G, and to offer much better coverage for calls in buildings, or in areas where there is no signal. From then until now, information has finally appeared on the RCS & RDS website regarding the areas where Digi Mobil currently has 2G coverage, and below you can see what we are talking about.

Digi Mobil currently has active 2G coverage in almost the entire city of Pitesti, and a good part of its surroundings, partially in the city of Ramnicu Valcea, in Campulung, Curtea de Arges, and a good part of the nearby areas. Apart from these, Digi Mobil also has a much smaller coverage in Onesti and the areas close to this city, so all customers there should have the possibility to make phone calls much easier.

Digi Mobil currently has the most extensive 2G coverage in Arges county, but apart from there and close to Onesti, RCS & RDS has not yet focused on activating 2G stations in other areas of the country. Despite this, it is as clear as possible that all customers will benefit from the 2G network in the respective areas, and as Digi Mobil expands coverage, everyone will have a better experience using the services.

Digi Mobil kept this network hidden until people started to see it active in the list of networks they can use in their phones, and then made an official announcement about it. The information regarding the 2G coverage in Romania was added by Digi Mobil in the second part of October, and has not been updated since the addition, so it is possible that the coverage is still slightly better than the one we see.

Digi Mobil seems to be taking a step back with the installation of the 2G network, since in other countries this technology is completely abandoned, but it is cheaper to supplement the coverage with it than with 4G stations.
