More precisely, the people from Apple started to display in Apple Maps and the Weather application the cities of the Crimean Peninsula as being part of Russia, not Ukraine.
Russia annexed Crimea in 2014 without anyone's opposition, and now the people from Apple are doing nothing but confirming a state of fact, although they are criticized from all sides. Apple resisted for several months in the face of pressure from Russia regarding this change, but in the end it gave in and attributed Crimea to Russia.
Until now, Apple Maps had Crimea displayed as an undefined territory, as it happens in Google Maps at the moment, but everything has changed.
