OFFICIAL: Digi Mobil, Vodafone, Orange, Telekom, IREAL Announcement for Customers

Digi Mobil, Vodafone, Orange, Telekom received today an extremely good announcement that also comes as huge news for customers in Romania, here's what was done.

Digi Mobil, Vodafone, Orange, Telekom OUG 114 2018

Digi Mobil, Vodafone, Orange, Telekom today they had an announcement that they had been waiting for almost a year, the telecommunications operators being hunted by the former Romanian government, but things are changing. GEO 114/2018 brought for Digi Mobil, and the rest of the telecom environment, a series of provisions that generated a lot of problems, but which forced the telecommunications companies to increase prices for customers in the country.

Digi Mobil, like the rest, announced a price increase for subscriptions not long after GEO 114/2018 came into force, and this is because it requires all companies to pay a turnover tax. Digi Mobil, and all other telecom operators, must pay 3% of the annual turnover, according to GEO 114/2018, and this brings over 100 million euros to the ANCOM budget, although there is a surplus there.

Digi Mobil, or any of the other telecom companies, have not paid any tax of this kind in the last 10 years, although the law provided for it, because the obligation was imposed only if the ANCOM budget exceeded the expenses. As this did not happen, on the contrary, there is a surplus, Digi Mobil, or any other operator, did not pay any such tax, and when it was imposed, they all increased their prices for services in the country.

Digi Mobil was the only operator that applied a modest increase for the services it offers, roughly equivalent to the one imposed by GEO 114/2018, but the rest of the operators applied higher increases. ANPC targeted almost everyone, with the exception of Orange, and of all of them, only Digi Mobil has so far won a victory over them, but we might see a complete solution to the problem on the part of the Romanian government.

Digi Mobil, Vodafone, Orange, Telekom have been waiting for a very long time to get rid of the 3% turnover tax, and Ludovic Orban, Prime Minister of Romania, confirmed today that this provision will disappear.
