OFFICIAL: Big change in Romania for all subscriptions and phone cards

January 1 brought a change in Romania for all subscriptions and mobile phone cards, one that we talked about in December, when some customers of Digi Mobil, Orange, Vodafone, Telekom were announced.

Today those from ANCOM announced also the change for all customers who have subscriptions, or cards, for mobile telephony with Digi Mobil, Orange, Vodafone, Telekom, they have much greater benefits for roaming.

Here is what ANCOM announced today, although all these changes apply from January 1, 2020 for all Digi Mobil, Orange, Vodafone, Telekom customers, so if you were abroad then, the changes have been applied to you:

"Starting from January 1, 2020, as a result of the decrease in the regulated tariff at wholesale level, for most tariff plans the amount of data (MB/GB) that can be consumed while roaming in the EU/EEA[1] has increased without the application of additional fees. Also from this date, in the case of exceeding the limits of the reasonable use of roaming services in the EU/EEA, the surcharges that can be applied to subsequent consumption have also decreased, as follows:

  • data surcharge decreased by approximately 22%, from 4,5 to 3,5 Euro/GB, excluding VAT;
  • the surcharge for incoming calls decreased by approximately 7%, from 0,85 to 0,79 eurocents/minute, excluding VAT.

For the year 2020, the maximum level of the surcharge that the RCS&RDS SA supplier is authorized to charge to its customers for calls received while roaming in the EEA, under the conditions set out in the Decision of the President of ANCOM no. 679/2019, decreased from 0,85 to 0,79 eurocents/minute, excluding VAT."
