Romanian Government: LAST-MINUTE DECISION for Airports

Romanian Government airports

The Government of Romania, through the MAI, made a very important decision for some of the major airports in Romania, and this was announced by Minister Marcel Vela during the course of this day, related to the Coronavirus.

The Government of Romania decided to buy thermal scanners for airports in Romania, investing no less than 5 million LEI to equip 16 airports in the country with such devices capable of detecting people with fever, who could also have the Coronavirus.

The Government of Romania makes purchases for all 16 international airports in the country, Henri Coanda from Bucharest will receive 5 scanners due to the very high passenger traffic, but the rest will receive 2 each.

The Government of Romania allocated the amount of 5 million LEI to buy the 37 thermal scanners for airports, the amount seems quite small in relation to the large number of units that must reach the international airports in Romania.

"As a novelty, compared to what we established in the National Committee for Emergency Situations, an amendment was also introduced by the Minister of Transport, regarding the purchase of thermal scanners that are also included in this ordinance, to equip the 16 international airports, five for Bucharest International Airport and two each for the other airports, one on the inbound flow and one on the outbound flow. 5 million lei are provided for thermal scanners and for other purchases, up to a ceiling of 220 million lei."

The Government of Romania has taken various measures to be able to detect in time possible people infected with the Corona virus in Romania, and since international airports are one of the entry points, the decision is an extremely good one.
