Vodafone: IMPORTANT announcement for Romania, what it is doing in 2020

Vodafone renewable energy

Vodafone today he made a surprise announcement for Romania, one that still shows us that the telecommunications group cares about our country, which comes as very good news for all Romanians. Based on the decision taken at the end of 2019, the people from Vodafone made the decision to buy only 100% green energy for the operations in Romania, i.e. energy that does not have any negative impact on the environment, something that does not really matter to us.

Vodafone it is still an international group, so based on what matters for civilized countries, the company makes the decision to buy only green energy including in Romania, which is very good. If I had to give my opinion, I would say that there will be extremely few customers who will care about this decision made by Vodafone, and if it would have also brought price increases, the effect would have been one completely contrary to the company's expectations.

Vodafone: IMPORTANT announcement for Romania, what it is doing in 2020

Vodafone has proposed, at the group level, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50% and to operate 100% only on the basis of renewable energy by 2025, globally. Romania is very quickly included in Vodafone's plan to achieve its goal of operating only on the basis of renewable energy, but at the customer level, no impact will be felt following the decision taken by the operator.

"The transition to energy from renewable sources instead of conventional energy in our activities represents an important step in Vodafone's sustainable development strategy, which is based on respect for the environment. The energy required to power the network infrastructure represents the largest part of the energy consumption at the level of our operations. For the benefit and interest of our customers, we continue to expand the capacity and performance of our networks, to handle the ever-increasing data traffic and to improve the speed and quality of the services offered. But this translates, inevitably, into ever-increasing energy requirements. That is why the operation of an energy efficient infrastructure is a priority and a major objective for us. In addition to using green energy in our operations, we focus on implementing the most efficient solutions that reduce energy consumption, from our technical centers to the services offered to our customers."
