The European Commission is preparing a series of important measures aimed at the big IT companies such as Apple, Facebook, Google, Amazon, and not only, and they will also be applicable in Romania. We are talking about measures aimed at forcing companies to pay their taxes in the countries where they generate income, the European Commission wanting to tax all these companies more seriously, which of course will have a substantial effect on the services offered.

The European Commission he knows that many of these companies either pay low taxes thanks to agreements with Ireland, or use tax havens to pay much lower taxes than other companies in the EU. Paolo Gentiloni, the European commissioner for the economy, wants things to change, so he wants to impose, through the European Commission, a substantial change to the legislation, so that all these companies pay their taxes in the countries where they operate.

The European Commission collaborates with various countries around the globe to find a global formula for uniform taxation of large companies, so these changes will take years, so they don't really worry. The EU has been discussing for years and years the amendment of the legislation regarding the taxation of companies operating within its territory, but the European Commission only now seems somewhat more determined to put into practice the statements made by various politicians.

"This means making sure that the digital giants, who benefit enormously from our single market, pay their fair share of tax here. It means creating a fair and simple tax environment where our digital champions at home can grow and thrive. And it means understanding the opportunities that technology and big data offer, so that tax rules are easier to comply with and easier to apply."

The European Commission she also needs the support of the European Parliament to implement her plan, but since big companies can lobby a lot there, it's hard to say to what extent what she wants is possible. If in the end the European Commission succeeds in forcing Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Facebook, Twitter, to pay taxes in the countries where they earn the money, then the services offered by these companies will certainly become much more expensive.

The European Commission he knows this, but he wants to bring more money to the budgets of the EU countries, which of course would allow the money to be invested in various projects, but all at the planning stage for now.
