"A new case of infection with Covid 19 was confirmed this evening. It is the 13th case of infection with the new coronavirus at the national level.

It is about a 72-year-old man from Galați who came from Lombardy on February 29. On March 6, the man developed symptoms consistent with the definition of a COVID 19 case.

In this context, on March 6, he was transported with the isolette, from the place where he was in self-isolation, to the Galati County Hospital, the infectious diseases section where he was currently hospitalized."


UPDATED: The 12th case of Coronavirus was confirmed in Bucharest, a man who returned by plane from Romania on February 27, being the infected person.

The man returned by plane to the airport in Otopeni, and although he came from an area where theoretically there are not many infections, here he is still infected and now an epidemiological investigation is being done in his case, according to Nelu Tatatru, secretary of state in the Ministry of Health.

"This afternoon, the 12th case of infection with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) was confirmed at the national level. It is about a man from Bucharest, aged 49, who returned from Italy (Rome) on February 27, 2020, from an unaffected area.

The man presented himself last evening at the "Matei Balș" National Institute of Infectious Diseases with a fever, but with symptoms that do not fall under the definition of a COVID-19 case. Samples were collected and because the person traveled to Italy it was decided to also collect samples for the COVID-19 test.
It is the first case detected in Bucharest. According to his first statements, the man stayed at home during this entire period, since returning to the country.

The Directorate of Public Health of the Municipality of Bucharest requested the isolate for transport to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases and started the epidemiological investigation. Establishing the contacts of the man confirmed positive for the new COVID-19 has begun, after which the collection of samples for testing will begin."


Romania continues to have new confirmed infections with the new Coronavirus, two people from Timisoara and Hunedoara, the Ministry of Health confirming that the number of infected people has reached 11 at the moment, this after two more were confirmed yesterday.

The coronavirus has infected 11 people so far in Romania, three of whom have been declared cured, the rest being hospitalized by the authorities, the vast majority in Timisoara, where the highest number of infections has been recorded so far.

Both infections are related to previous cases, confirmed yesterday and this week, and the authorities will conduct epidemiological investigations to discover the people they came into contact with in order to isolate them at home before infecting other people.

"Two other cases of people who are infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed, bringing the number of cases to 11.

One case concerns a 15-year-old girl from Timișoara, who studies in the same educational unit as the other two 16-year-olds from Timișoara, but in a different class.

At this moment, the courses of the educational institution are suspended until March 11, following that on Monday, March 9, the county committee for emergency situations will decide to suspend the courses for up to 14 days.

The 15-year-old girl presented herself yesterday at the Children's Hospital in Timișoara, presenting symptoms of fever and cough, and the decision was made to admit her and take samples at the Hospital for Infectious Diseases in Timișoara. Currently, his health condition is improved, without fever.

The second case is of a 16-year-old girl from Hunedoara, who traveled on the same plane in the immediate vicinity of the 40-year-old man from Hunedoara, confirmed yesterday with infection with the new coronavirus (COVID-19). The 16-year-old is asymptomatic and will be admitted to the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Timișoara."
