The Romanian government: does street disinfection help fight the coronavirus?

The Government of Romania disinfection of streets Coronavirus

The Government of Romania published today a very interesting message regarding the disinfection of the streets as a measure to further reduce the risk of infection with the new Coronavirus, saying that for now it is not known how useful this procedure is to combat the virus.

The Government of Romania comes with this information after disinfections of this kind have started to be carried out in many cities, the army being sent to Suceava to do something similar, but it seems that it is not very clear if everything helps in any way or not.

"In order to analyze the effectiveness of the disinfection of external environments (road surfaces, protective walls, pavements, etc.), factors such as the means of transmission of the Coronavirus, the proof of the presence of the virus on the surfaces, as well as the possible impact on the environment and the health risk in the case of using unsuitable, potentially toxic products.

For washing urban pavements, the recommendations are to use the usual procedures, based on conventional soaps / conventional detergents, avoiding, however, the production of dust and aerosols. Disinfecting them is a measure whose usefulness has not been established, as there is no evidence that walking surfaces are involved in the transmission of the virus.

Information regarding the use of hypochlorite and its ability to kill the virus on external surfaces (such as roads) and in the air is conflicting."
