The coronavirus is starting to generate an increase in the number of infection cases in Romania again, today being the first day of significant increase compared to the whole week, with 213 new cases being registered, probably as a result of the application of relaxation measures starting with the weekend last.

The number of people cured after infection with the new Coronavirus is also increasing again, but unfortunately 188 people are still in intensive care at the moment, an extremely important thing because the overcrowding of these units is a real danger.

It was expected that the number of new cases of infection with the new Coronavirus will increase after the application of the relaxation measures, and compared to yesterday, the increase is almost 50%, and compared to the whole week, it is the first time that the two hundred.

If this week we had a day with 125 new cases reported in over 10.000 tests, now we have over 200 again, and there is a risk that the number of new cases will increase because the world does not respect the protective measures, and exposes itself, then ending up staying in the hospital for weeks.

"Until today, May 24, on the territory of Romania, 18.070 cases of people infected with the COVID-19 virus (coronavirus) have been confirmed. Of the people confirmed positive, 11.399 were declared cured and discharged.

At the same time, so far, 1179 people diagnosed with infection with COVID-19, admitted to hospitals in Dolj, Bucharest, Iași, Suceava, Arad, Bacău, Timiș, Cluj, Neamț, Hunedoara, Constanța, Satu Mare, Sibiu, Ialomița, Bistrița- Năsăud, Covasna, Dâmbovița, Vrancea, Galati, Caraș-Severin, Mureș, Giurgiu, Bihor, Argeș, Vaslui, Botoșani, Alba, Sălaj, Brașov, Mehedinți, Teleorman, Gorj, Prahova, Vâlcea, Calarasi, Maramureș, Olt and Ilfov, they died.

Since the last information sent by the Strategic Communication Group, another 213 new cases of illness have been registered.

At the moment, 188 patients are admitted to the ATI.

On the territory of Romania, there are 6.973 people in institutionalized quarantine. Another 60.423 people are in isolation at home and are under medical monitoring.

Up to this date, at the national level, 368.482 tests have been processed.

In the last 24 hours, 342 calls were registered to the single emergency number 112 and 833 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), opened specifically for informing citizens.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55 of 15.05.2020 regarding some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, in the last 24 hours, 278 contraventional sanctions, worth 122.600 lei.

Also, on May 23, 61 people who did not comply with the measure of home isolation or quarantine were placed in institutionalized quarantine for 14 days or institutionalized quarantine was ordered for a new period of 14 days.

Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other countries, according to the information obtained by diplomatic missions and consular offices of Romania abroad, 3.067 Romanian citizens have been confirmed to be infected with COVID-19 (coronavirus): 1.699 in Italy, 561 in Spain , 84 in France, 576 in Germany, 87 in the UK, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 3 in the USA, 4 in Austria, 3 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Switzerland, 2 in Turkey and one each in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, United Arab Emirates, Malta, Brazil and Sweden. From the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic and up to this moment, 106 Romanian citizens abroad, 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 35 in Great Britain, 9 in Spain, 6 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the US and one in Brazil, have passed away.

Among the Romanian citizens confirmed with the new coronavirus, 22 were declared cured: 9 in Germany, 9 in France, 2 in Indonesia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia.
