Average Speeds of 5G Networks are SURPRISINGLY Low

The average speeds of 5G networks are surprisingly low compared to what everyone expected from the new innovative technology launched in some countries.

The average download speeds recorded by 5G networks are surprisingly low, or at least that's what a study recently published by OpenSignal shows. You can see below the average download speeds registered in the 5G networks by the clients of some of the largest telecommunications operators around the world, and compared to what we have in Romania on 4G+ with some operators, they seem ridiculously low to me.

In the USA, the operator Verizon offers average download speeds through 5G that reach 500 Mbps for customers, and from here everything is halved, including in South Korea, where the networks are very efficient. Of course, in South Korea there are also the most users of 5G phones, and it is possible that this also generates low speeds, but compared to what we have in Romania on 4G+, the differences are huge, and if you look at what they have some customers from the USA on 5G, understand that the technology is completely useless compared to 4G, for now.

Those from OpenSignal claim that the biggest problems come from the fact that there is not enough spectrum in which to use the 5G antennas, and that the frequencies are not high enough, so the speeds are very low. Of course, the type of technology used is extremely important, and as Verizon uses mmWave technology from the very beginning, it also has the highest download speeds on 5G, which we should see with other operators as the technology it is taken over.

You can also see how big the differences between 4G and 5G speeds are for some operators, and how small they are for others, and that matters a lot in the end. In the US there are operators who lie to their customers with 5Ge markings for 4G networks, which the authorities let them do, but even so, the speeds are embarrassingly low, especially since serious amounts are invested in 5G networks in the US, and not today, but for some time already.

In Romania we already have three active 5G networks, and average speeds reach 500 Mbps, or even more, depending on the network you are connected to, so the experience is much better.
