Ministry of Health: warning regarding the increase in infections with the Coronavirus

The Ministry of Health warns of the increase in Coronavirus infections

The Ministry of Health published today new information regarding the negative evolution of cases of infection with the new Coronavirus, which is on an increasing, worrisome trend, and this has again led to the situation where the number of those infected is higher than those cured.

The Ministry of Health also publishes a statistic that was used to motivate some of the decisions to adopt relaxation measures, and as the situation worsens from one day to the next, it is not excluded that some relaxations disappear.

The Ministry of Health warns of an increase in the number of coronavirus infections and cures

"Given the debates in the public space regarding the epidemic evolution of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) in Romania and the need to continue health protection measures, the Strategic Communication Group makes the following clarifications:

The adoption of the state of alert starting on May 15 occurred against the background of a low evolution of the number of new cases of infection with the new coronavirus, compared to the number of cured people. In this context, the authorities adopted a series of relaxation measures for the resumption of some social and economic activities.

Also, in the period up to June 1, a significantly higher rate of cured people could be found compared to that of infected people, a fact that allowed the continuation and gradual expansion of relaxation measures. In the following week, when the entry into a new stage was analyzed to allow the resumption of new social and economic activities, a higher rate of the number of cured people was maintained in relation to the infected ones.

Regarding the cases of infections registered in the last few days, we notice that their dynamics has entered an upward trend, with a significant difference compared to the number of cured people.

This negative evolution of the ratio between the number of people confirmed with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) and the number of people cured calls for an increased effort to comply with responsible health behavior on the part of society as a whole. Compliance with health regulations by as many citizens as possible is the only guarantee that the relaxation measures taken so far can be maintained and that it can continue safely with the adoption of new relaxation measures regarding social and economic activities."
