Ministry of Health: the decision regarding the treatment of asymptomatic people infected with the Coronavirus

The decision of the Ministry of Health to treat the asymptomatic infected with the Coronavirus

This week, the Ministry of Health took the decision to allow the treatment of people infected with the new Coronavirus, but asymptomatic, outside hospitals after a certain period of time in which they do not show any symptoms of the disease.

The Ministry of Health wants to release the hospitals after the constant and large increase in the number of infections with the new Coronavirus, and this situation will continue, as we have been repeatedly warned by the Romanian authorities.

"Today, June 26, 2020, during a videoconference, the representatives of the Ministry of Health requested from the public health departments a report on the identification and preparation of the units intended for the isolation of asymptomatic persons infected with the new coronavirus, according to the provisions of Order 1137/2020.

Also, by the beginning of next week, the representatives of the public health departments will submit to the Ministry of Health the result of the evaluation of the hospitals that provide medical assistance for patients tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus in order to resume admissions and scheduled surgical interventions, as well as the activity in outpatients, for non-COVID patients.

During the videoconference, other problems faced by the public health departments and some hospitals during this period were also discussed, such as the shortage of specialized medical personnel, especially in the fields of intensive care and epidemiology due to the lack of the possibility of transfer between units, the results of the controls performed by the court of accounts, payment of overtime, etc.

The deadline for submitting these reports is Monday, June 29, 2020.

Based on them, the leadership of the Ministry of Health will decide the measures to be taken in the following period, as well as the future legislative changes, if necessary."
