The Romanian government quarantines the locality on alert

"Today, July 22, 2020, the extraordinary meeting of the Prahova County Committee for Emergency Situations took place.

Within this, Decision no. 40/22.07.2020 of CJSU Prahova, regarding the establishment of zonal quarantine in Gornet village in Gornet commune, Prahova county, for a period of 14 days, starting with the date and time of issuing the order of the head of the Department for Emergency Situations, with the possibility of extension depending on the position of the evolution of the community spread of the new SARS-CoV 2 coronavirus.

In accordance with Art. 12 para. (1) from Law no. 136/2020, regarding the establishment of measures in the field of public health in situations of epidemiological and biological risk, zonal quarantine is established by order of the head of the Department for Emergency Situations or the person designated by him, based on the decision of the county committee for emergency situations, at the proposal of the territorial public health directorate and with the approval of the National Institute of Public Health.

The measure of quarantine is not equal to the closure of a locality, but supports citizens who are not infected, and ensures better management of the fight against the spread of diseases."


The Romanian government keeps its word until the end, and announced the first locality in which it imposes quarantine due to the large number of cases of Coronavirus, which both the Prime Minister and the Minister of Health had already announced repeatedly.

The Romanian government ordered the quarantine of Cartojani village, from Roata de Jos commune, Giurgiu, after the number of infections reached 32 people in a population of 3600 people, exceeding the critical threshold of 3 infected people per 1000 inhabitants, being 8.8 in this case.

The Romanian government also quarantined the city of Suceva in the state of emergency, together with a number of villages and communes near it, together with the city of Tandarei, but this is the first town quarantined during the state of alert.
