"For correct information on the mortality caused by COVID-19 in Romania, this being calculated as the percentage of deaths from the total number of confirmed cases, I am attaching two graphs that show where Romania is compared to the EU average and to some countries that I have included in the respective comparison. The data in the graphs are from 20 Aug. 2020.
Any death is regrettable and means the loss of a life that meant a lot to family and friends, but on the other hand, Romania is far from having the highest mortality in Europe, as has been stated in some media recently. Unfortunately, these figures are dynamic and can change at any time, especially if the health system does not cope with the pressure. That is why the recommendation not to take into account unfounded information and statements that cannot be verified remains valid and extremely important. At the same time, it remains important to respect the recommendations for distancing and wearing a mask in closed and open crowded spaces so that we can limit the community spread of the virus.
