Black Hole: The Incredible SECRET Observed by Researchers

The black hole for which the first picture in history was recorded has today another revelation of a very important secret for humanity.

Black hole ripples

The black hole which was photographed for the first time is in the galaxy M87, and the researchers amazed the whole world with the fact that they managed to record that image with an object that is so difficult to capture in images, but here they are. Things went even further than that, and the researchers who took the first picture of a black hole continued to study it, and discovered one of its impressive secrets.

The black hole monitored by researchers, it has a gas ring formed by the objects it swallows over time, and according to the observations made by researchers, it seems that it undulates over time. It seems that these undulations are also significant, even if it is not so well observed from Earth, considering how far this black hole is, and how big it is, the changes in the shape of that gas ring are huge.

Black Hole: The Incredible SECRET Observed by Researchers

The black hole from the galaxy M87 is a supermassive one, being placed 53 million light-years in relation to the Earth, and its huge size made it possible to observe it from such a great distance in relation to it. The researchers managed to capture in the photo the radiation emitted by that ring of gases formed by this black hole that constantly swallows objects that get too close, and are caught by its gravitational force.

“This is an important confirmation of theoretical expectations, as the consistency over several observational epochs gives us more confidence than ever about the nature of M87 * and the origin of the shadow. We actually see a lot of variation there, and not all theoretical models of accretion [of material into a black hole] allow for that much oscillation. What it means is that we can start to rule out some of the models based on the dynamics of the observed source."

The black hole surprised the researchers because they did not expect that ring of gas, known as the accretion disk, to undulate so much over time, so their observations came as a big surprise. Of course, we are talking here about observations that extend over a long period of time, otherwise it would not be possible to observe very well those undulations that take place in an accretion disk that a black hole has so far away.

The black hole it will continue to be monitored, but more than that, the researchers could record a video clip that will show us the way its accretion disk moves over time.
