In January, the vaccination against COVID-19 will also begin in Romania, and for those interested in finding out more information about the vaccine, the campaign coordinator offered some answers, one of them regarding the period of activity of the antibodies made after vaccination.
Valeriu Gheorghita, the doctor who coordinates the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 in Romania, says that for now it is not clear, but it is possible that the antibodies generated by the vaccine provide long-term protection, and that there is no need for a seasonal vaccination.
Until now, it would have been noticed that in the case of COVID-19 there would not be mutations as frequent as in the case of the influenza virus, so a vaccination could offer longer protection, without the need to vaccinate every year, but having considering that everything is so new, no one knows clearly what is happening.
