Facebook: IMPORTANT Decision Imposed by the European Commission

Facebook terrorist content

Facebook, YouTube, and other social media networks, or video sharing, in Europe, are targeted by a new directive that obliges them to delete within a maximum of one hour any kind of content that presents a terrorist act, incites acts of terrorism, etc.

The European Commission wanted to impose such measures for some time, but it has only now found the solution to do so, and we are talking about extremely important news to protect European citizens from this kind of content.

Facebook has been at the center of scandals in the past, as well as YouTube, due to the fact that video recordings of theoretical acts remained active on their platforms for days on end, but based on the new European directive, this should not happen more, or fines will be applied.

The European Commission will fine the companies that violate these provisions, a percentage of their annual revenues being targeted as part of this measure, so we are talking about sanctioning measures similar to those applied in case of violation of GDPR provisions.

The European Commission proposed this measure in 2018, but before it enters into force at the European level, it is necessary for both the Council of Europe and the European Parliament to adopt it, after which it will become a community law, applicable throughout the European Union.
