Raed Arafat: Explanations regarding rapid testing for the Coronavirus

Raed Arafat rapid testing of the Coronavirus

Raed Arafat offered a series of additional explanations regarding the rapid testing for the Coronavirus as soon as the new rapid tests will be distributed in Romania, i.e. from next week, and this should increase the number of tests performed, but also the speed of their completion.

Raed Arafat says that despite the fact that these rapid tests will help increase testing rates, people should not ask for testing without having symptoms, because this will not happen, so you do not need to think about it now .

"From tomorrow we start distributing the first 300.000 rapid antigen tests at the national level out of the three million contracted. Next week we will distribute another installment. This means that at the level of emergency services, security rooms, hospitals, maybe even at the level of ambulance services, we will start giving these tests, the possibility of testing and obtaining a quick result will be much greater. So the testing will be more intense, more frequent, maybe much higher than collecting and waiting for the PCR.

We do not test asymptomatic people. Next week, since I talked with Minister Tătaru, we will start giving the ambulance services, and when you go to a suspect, to a symptomatic person, then yes, you can take the test. So let the world understand: we will not do tests on request, over the phone, for the ambulance to come and test me. Excluded. If you call us and we see that you don't have symptoms, we don't test you, because that means you're putting the emergency system under pressure."
